Patient Safety Awareness Week
Mar 15, 2019 | St. Francis News
Patient Safety is a priority at St. Francis, as demonstrated by the great response we had at the activities we held throughout the week. We provided education on Hand Hygiene, Event Reporting, Falls Prevention, Medication Safety, and Pressure Ulcers and Wound Care. It was all topped off with some fun treats, give-aways, and prize drawings.
Led by St. Francis Medical Center’s La’Tanya Simmons, BSN, RN, CPHQ, CPPS, HACP, Executive Director of Quality and Patient Safety, Derek Drake, DNP, RN, NE-BC, CNML, CNL, Chief Nursing Officer, and Irena Zuanic, MSN, RN, NEA-BC, Associate Chief Nursing Officer, Patient Safety Week was coordinated by a multidisciplinary hospital team. It included clinical and non-clinical staff from Patient Safety, Quality, Pharmacy, Education, Infection Prevention, Risk Management, Patient Care Units, and Nursing Administration, with input from our Patient and Family Advisory Council.
The collaborative effort represents the commitment that the doctors, nurses, and staff across the medical center have to making St. Francis a safe and supportive place for patients, families and employees. We appreciate everyone’s participation as we promote a culture of patient safety at our hospital every day.
