Nov 15, 2018 | St. Francis News, Featured Employees
St. Francis Medical Center is very proud to have Gabriel Mainit, RN, BSN, Manager of Perioperative Services, among the featured RNs in Working Nurse magazine’s special section, “Men in Nursing 2018.” Gabe is one of the outstanding nurses at our hospital. He started out as a transporter in the Perioperative Department, and through the encouragement and mentorship of the nurses there, he enrolled in nursing school, attained his RN license, and began his career as a nurse at St. Francis. A true success story, Gabe went on to attain his Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree on a full scholarship that was awarded to him from American Career College/West Coast University in collaboration with St. Francis Medical Center. He received the award in recognition of his dedication to serving patients in our community.
Gabe has special ties to St. Francis. His sister Joann and brother Raphael are both nurses at the hospital, his mother previously worked in the Accounting Department, and his father Gabriel Sr. retired from St. Francis after working many years in both the Public Safety and Audio/Visual Departments.
You can read more about why Gabe chose his specialty, how a patient experience particularly touched him, and what he has learned from the women with whom he works by reading his interview here.
