We are dedicated to providing comprehensive, excellent health care for the whole person: body, mind and spirit. Understanding how your body works and learning to “listen” to your body can decrease pain and help you stay active. The Living Well courses are designed to assist you in this process.

All classes are held from 6:30 PM – 8 PM in the O’Connor Hospital Medical Office Building (MOB) Auditorium located at 2101 Forest Ave., San Jose, CA 95128.
Joint Replacement Preoperative Classes
We offer preoperative educational classes on total knee, total hip, total shoulder replacement and spine surgery. These classes allow you to meet the rehabilitation team, become familiar with current surgical procedures and technologies, and provide you with empowering information to lead you to a speedy recovery.
Health Services, Screenings and Resources
FREE weekly blood pressure screenings, Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 4:30 PM Cardiac Rehabilitation Department (first floor). Drop-ins welcome.
O’Connor Hospital Cancer Care Library and Resource Center: Located on the 5th floor. Materials in English and Spanish.

Childbirth Preparation Class (Weekday or Weekend)
This three-part weekday or weekend series is designed to provide the woman and her support person with information on pregnancy changes, as well as signs, symptoms and stages of labor. Lamaze breathing and relaxation techniques are included. Classes meet on three Tuesday evenings or one Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday Childbirth Preparation (One-Day Express Class)
This eight-hour class is designed for the woman and her support person who want to receive the childbirth information in one day. The class content is the same as the three-week series (see above). A $10 meal voucher is included.
This three-hour prenatal class provides the essential information couples need to get off to a successful start with breastfeeding. Topics include strategies for dealing with common issues that new moms face.
Infant Care Class
This class is designed for expectant parents and other caregivers. Basic infant care is discussed as well as SIDS precautions. Weeknight and Saturday classes offered.
New Mom’s Support Group
This drop-in support group provides hands-on help and answers questions about newborn care and breastfeeding. Group is open to all new moms. The group meets every Monday, except public holidays from 11 AM to 12:30 PM
Family Center Tours
Tours of the Maternity Unit are given once each week during the evening and one weekday afternoon a month. Reservations required. Call (408) 947-2699.

Alzheimer’s Caregiver Learning Circles
Learning circles are monthly workshops for caregivers that offer useful techniques and information that can be used in various situations. Topics covered include managing difficult behaviors, legal and financial issues, medication management, caregiver self-care. Group meets the second Saturday of the month in the Medical Staff Conference Room from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. For more information, call Heather Gray, Alzheimer’s Association, at (800) 272-3900.
ICD Support group
Education and support for patients who have an Implanted Cardioverter Defibrillator device. Meets the third Wednesday of the odd month from 2:30 to 4 p.m. in the Rosalie Rendu Room (Cafeteria). Contact Sonia Blazensky, RN at firstname.lastname@example.org or (408) 947-2994.
Silicon Valley Ostomy Support group
If you have had, or are preparing for ostomy surgery, join us to learn more. Those who support ostomates are encouraged to attend. Meets the second Tuesday of the month from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Rosalie Rendu Room (Cafeteria). For more information, visit www.svosg.org.

Stroke Support Group
Our Stroke Support Group is facilitated by staff therapists at O’Connor Hospital, and meets the second Wednesday of every month from 3:30 to 5 p.m., Rosalie Rendu Room (Cafeteria). This group is open to stroke survivors and caregivers. For more information, call Laleh Ebadat at (408) 947-2522.
